« "Yuppie" is a bad word? | Main | Barbara Anderson: a brief history lesson » Sunday, March 18, 2007An override hangover in WellesleyIn Wellesley, where voters approved an override last fall, the town's school committee is about to make good on a months old promise to discuss how it decides salaries and bonuses. Member Marlene Allen called on the committee last fall to give the public an explanation for its decision to announce an 8.5-percent raise to retiring Superintendent Matthew King after voters approved a Prop 2 1/2 override. The committee has put off the discussion at least twice. King's compensation is $218,557, third highest in eastern Massachusetts, according to a survey of superintendent salaries by the Globe. School Committee Chairman Michael Young told the Globe that the committee would hold a special meeting this week to take up the issue of compensation. He did not specify a time. -- Lisa Keen Posted by David Dahl, Regional Editor at 03:38 PM
