« Bridgewater override would cost average taxpayer $411 | Main | Will Norton voters finally warm up to tax hike? » Friday, May 18, 2007Raynham voters will have options on school budgetRaynham officials have decided to follow Bridgewater's lead in considering the towns' shared regional school budget at Town Meeting on Monday. The Raynham Finance Committee and selectmen will first recommend that voters approve an $11.5 million contribution to the school district, which would not fully fund the $55 million package the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School Committee has requested. Then officials will give voters the chance to fully fund the school committee’s budget, contingent on the passage of a $1 million proposition 2 1/2 override. The amount would boost Raynham's contribution to $12.5 million for the upcoming year. Raynham Town Administrator Randall Buckner said a special election to consider the override would be set for June 30 if the larger budget wins Town Meeting support. Bridgewater Town Meeting voters two weeks ago approved an initial budget contribution for the school that would not require an override, along with a contribution that would meet the school committee’s recommended amount. That town will consider the override on June 16. -- Christine Wallgren Posted by John C. Drake at 12:35 PM
