Bad ideas dressed as theological truth
AS A Christian and a theological student I can forgive Bertrand Shannon's old-fashioned use of the male pronoun to speak of God, but I do find fault with his pronouncement "woe to those who mess with" the natural law of heterosexuality. That these hurtful words are dressed up as theological truth makes them even worse. To suggest that homosexuals are not children of God is nothing but human folly. There are an increasing number of churches that welcome families and people of all kinds, and I pray that more may be added to their number. Perhaps it is traditional to use the language of faith to wish woe upon homosexuals, but some traditions are better left in the past.
