Kerry is hypocritical on attack ads
August 26, 2004
JOHN KERRY chose to make his war record and his behavior after returning from Vietnam an issue and open himself to scrutiny and attack. Perhaps, unlike his record in the Senate (or lack of one), he thought his war record was safe from attack.

Kerry certainly should feel insulted by the swift boat group's ads, but he is hypocritical to blame President Bush or call on him to denounce or stop the ads. For almost a year, organizations and individuals friendly to Kerry have been running ads attacking Bush's National Guard service, calling him a liar, saying he was in the pay of the Saudi royal family, and worse.
During all this time, Kerry made no move to denounce such allegations. His outrage sounds like a case of hysterical blindness.
