Bush did nothing to prevent 9/11
September 8, 2004
WHY DOES Paul A. Tourigny (letter, Sept. 5) think that President Bush would do everything to prevent a terrorist attack in the United States? Bush neglected to do anything to prevent the events of Sept. 11 despite having been given a report in August warning of an imminent attack on our country. He responded by continuing his vacation at his Texas ranch. Whatever action John Kerry would take in such a situation could not be more nonfeasant.

Tourigny says that the United States should attack terrorists where they live, train, and prosper. This is a capital idea that would probably involve invading Saudi Arabia, which will not happen during the current administration due to Bush's financial ties to the bin Ladin and Saudi royal families. Using our resources to bring to justice those who attack the United States before concerning ourselves with "potential enemies" is a no-brainer. The capture of Saddam Hussein and the deaths of more than 900 American troops and 10,000 Iraqis does nothing to negate the fact that Osama bin Ladin is still free.
