Dark days at Justice Dept.

PRESIDENT BUSH has nominated for attorney general his chief counsel, Alberto Gonzales, who advised him not only could our soldiers ignore the Geneva Conventions when handling prisoners, but also that he did not have to call torture anything they did to prisoners unless the prisoner almost died or did die.

As we lead the charge for democracy in Afghanistan and Iraq, we are going to go from a lawyer who wants to ignore the civil rights granted to us by the US Constitution to one who wants to ignore the human rights recognized by world institutions.
