I WAS appalled to learn of the unconscionable behavior of Robert M. Mardirosian, the lawyer who received stolen paintings under mysterious circumstances, secreted them away for years, and then had the audacity to offer them to their rightful owner in return for a finder's fee ( ''1978 art heist solved," Page A1, Feb. 1).
