DR. VICTORIA Rogers McEvoy discusses many interesting facts about children's cough and cold medicine in "A pediatrician's cough conundrum" (Health/Science, Oct. 29). But I'm confused about one of her statements. She writes that she "doesn't put much stock in natural remedies for youthful coughs and colds" because she has "yet to hear of one that meets evidence-based standards of Western medicine." Well, being the mother of six children, and having used natural remedies such as eucalyptus oil and other homeopathic medicines many times, I couldn't disagree more.
What evidence is she looking for? I always have extreme success with these remedies, not only with my children, but also for myself.
