Clark has the skills and vision
IN 1992, I WAS 14 years old and had the opportunity to experience the New Hampshire primary as few do. My father, Paul Tsongas, came to New Hampshire with a message that resonated with the voters of this state, a message that won him the New Hampshire primary. I saw New Hampshire voters respond to the substance of my father's message and the respect with which he addressed them.
As I look at the current state of our country I believe we need a president whose message is substantive and visionary. This year I have chosen to support General Wesley Clark in his bid for the White House. I believe Clark has the skills, the experience, and the fortitude we need in the next president of the United States.
Like 1992, today we find ourselves struggling through an economy that has left many without jobs, with a president who does not seem willing or able to take the steps vital to get this country working again. Today, however, there is another issue that Democrats must address in order to be successful: national security.
The threats to our country are unlike any we have faced before, and we need a leader who can guide us through this time. What Clark offers is the best combination of attributes to address the complex challenges we face today. A man who has been tested in crisis, negotiated peace treaties, and conducted military operations on the largest scale, Clark will not be shaken on national security by George W. Bush. He will be able to steer the country in a positive direction, toward national safety, a healthy economy, and social policies of which we can be proud.
Clark has a vision for a better America centered on sound economics and strong social values. His domestic programs resonate from the edges to the core of the Democratic Party. He will take this party and this country in the right direction, translating our anxiety to hope.
Wes Clark has brought me back to New Hampshire to do what I can to help his campaign. I have been reminded of what an amazing process this is and feel honored to again be a part of it.
