« Rice's star power | Main | Student Quiz » Thursday, June 15, 2006In touch with Americans? That only six US Senators voted to have most US troops out by the end of next year, reminds us why 73 percent of American disapprove of the job Congress is doing. They are also out of touch with the sentiment of the troops, as 72 percent of them support leaving Iraq within a year, according to Zogby International. ( Only 23 percent said they should stay “as long as they are needed.” ) Those who had the courage to vote for the timetable -- John Kerry, Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Robert Byrd, Tom Harkin, and Edward M. Kennedy -- deserve credit. Those who didn't, including possible presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Joseph Biden, may regret this during primary season in 2008. |
