« It won't end with Catholic Charities | Main | Kennedy on Immigration » Wednesday, June 7, 2006The debate on Haditha*Christopher Hitchens tells his readers that Haditha is not My Lai. Meanwhile local media critic Dan Kennedy differs with Hitchens. As does Peter Daou and R.J Eskow. It is sadly predictable to see how the hawkish proponents of the War in Iraq are accusing the left and the press of enjoying this incident. Some examples of this disturbing punditry: * William Kristol says "The anti-American left can barely be bothered to conceal its glee." * Right-wing blogger Michelle Malkin claimed on Fox News that she could see "puddles of drool in the offices of the L.A. Times and The New York Times" as they reported on this tragedy. * Rush Limbaugh said "this Haditha incident, whatever, this is it folks, this is the final big push on behalf of the Democratic Party, the American left, and the Drive-By Media to destroy our effort to win the war in Iraq. That’s what Haditha represents — and they are going about it gleefully. They are ecstatic about it." |
