THE AYN RAND INSTITUTE, a nonprofit research center in Irvine, Calif., got the centenary year of its patron saint off to a less than sure-footed start, P.R.-wise. On Dec. 30, just days after the devastating South Asian tsunami, the institute sent out a press release under the headline ''U.S. Should Not Help Tsunami Victims.'' (Full article: 887 words)
