A lot of expats are depressed. Glamour, wealth and a fast track in the promotions race all are on offer to those posted to a distant land. Relocation can be particularly hard on families, especially dual-career ones. Among respondents to a recent survey, 52.5 percent of American women who came along with their husbands to a foreign country had worked before the move, but only 19 percent ended up holding a job in the new country.
