« Andrew O'Hagan on the DNC | Main | More on Andrew O'Hagan » Thursday, May 24, 2007Center for Cartoon Studies gradsIn January 2005, Ideas published an essay about the Center for Cartoon Studies, a two-year art school in White River Junction, Vt., founded by graphic novelist James Sturm. Alas, like so many Ideas essays, for some reason this one doesn't seem to be available online; all I can find is an accompanying photo. Anyway, those of you who remember the essay may be pleased to hear that the quixotic enterprise is flourishing. In fact, CCS has just graduated its first alumni. Here's the diploma, created by the brilliant, usually much more disturbing cartoonist Ivan Brunetti: ![]() FUN FACT: One of CCS's instructors is cartoonist James Kochalka. I notice that CCS is referenced several times in "American Elf (Book Two)," the latest print edition of Kochalka's ever-improving daily cartoon diary. Via FLOG. Posted by Joshua Glenn at 01:01 PM
