Maker Faire

Speaking of idling in San Francisco, I was there this weekend -- returned last night on the redeye; I'm still out of it -- but wanted to post this photo I snapped at Maker Faire, a two-day, family-friendly event that "celebrates arts, crafts, engineering, science projects and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset."

That's Boing Boing founder and Make magazine editor Mark Frauenfelder, driving around the Faire in a "Banana Splits"-type electric buggy.

Lotsa photos of the Maker Faire at the blog.

Here's something else the San Francisco idlers were doing this weekend: the city's annual Bay to Breakers footrace, which is like the Boston Marathon + nice weather + alcohol + costumes + nudists (= better than the Marathon). I ran into a usually dapper acquaintance of mine from Boston dressed as a Care Bear. He was completely sober, by the way.
