New Releases

"LOONEY TUNES:BACK IN ACTION" (2003)Bless Brendan Fraser for being willing to give a live-action/animation combo another shot after "Monkeybone." But while this latest Bugs-and-Daffy revival (from director Joe Dante of "Gremlins") is marginally less forced than "Space Jam," "Back in Action" doesn't exactly mean ". . . and better than ever." With Steve Martin playing more funny-strange than funny-ha-ha as the toons' nemesis.Extras: A new "Looney Tunes" short and a Yosemite Sam Easter egg (no doubt leaving some on his face). (Warner, $27.95; VHS, $19.96)

"GOOD BOY!" (2003)Dogs secretly bent on ruling the world? It's silly, harmless fun, never mind the overthrow-of-humanity stuff. Matthew Broderick supplies the voice of lead pet and Benji look-alike Hubble.Extras: An "audio canine-tary" by the director and cast members and "pooch profiles." (MGM, $26.98; VHS $22.98)

"THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED" (2002)Spanish confection about couples playing musical beds -- literally, as they intermittently break into song. Some of the numbers do, however, get lost in translation. With Paz Vega ("Sex and Lucia").Extras: Director's intro from the Sundance Film Series. (Sundance, $26.99)

REISSUES

"CITY LIGHTS" (1931). Charlie Chaplin's finest feature-length effort focuses on the Little Tramp's affection for a blind girl. One of several remastered Chaplin classics being put out on DVD after being excluded from an initial wave of re-releases last year.Extras: Footage of Chaplin boxing with visiting prizefighters on the set, as well as a clip of him speaking for the first time on film. (Warner, $29.95)

TELEVISION

" `STARSKY & HUTCH:' THECOMPLETE FIRST SEASON" (1975)Let's not go overboard here -- any '70s cop show is still just that, complete with the hokiness and bad sound and less-than-convincing "streetwise" types. But in this series's pre-"Miami Vice" era, there was also a bit more effort made to include a little substance behind all the red Torino style.Extras: Commentary by Paul Michael Glaser, David Soul, and -- yes! -- Antonio "Huggy Bear" Fargas; plus, as if the timing wasn't already obvious, a featurette on the new Ben Stiller-Owen Wilson feature version. (Columbia, $49.95)

Capsules are written by Globe correspondent Tom Russo and titles are in stores Tuesday unless otherwise specified.
