Jerry meandering

It's been 10 years since Grateful Dead founder Jerry Garcia headed to the great drum circle in the sky. That hasn't stopped the merchandising of Jerry, a process started by the guitarist himself well before his death. In honor of the big guy, we suggest recovering Dead Heads unite and show off some of that post-hippie buying power. (Unless noted, most merchandise can be found at jerrygarciastore.com.)

GEOFF EDGERS

Cherry Garcia. $5. It was a marriage made in touchy-feely marketing heaven: Vermont ice cream makers Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield strike a deal with the leader of the last, great hippie rock band. And for just $5 a pint, you, too, can pretend you're contributing to a mom-and-pop operation when the cash actually goes to the company's true owner, the Anglo-Dutch corporation Unilever.

Jerry Ties. $29.95. Garcia studied art at the San Francisco Art Institute, but these ties appear to have been influenced more by his appetite for ''herbal" remedies. Or LeRoy Nieman. The website tieguys.com is one of the cheapest ways to score one of Jerry's technicolor dream ties.

Jerry Knit Cap. $15. Don't listen to what the scenesters tell you. Beanies will never go out of style. At least that's what the Edge and Gavin DeGraw still believe. Added benefit: A skully with Jerry's handprint carries great currency in South Central.

Jerry Tote Bag. $25. They say this is for the ladies, but we're not so sure. Particularly with its internal zip pocket, this bag can prove vital to any dude looking to store a stick or two of incense.

Jerry Moon Long-Sleeve Shirt. $25. Looking for a perfect Patriots Day gift for that special someone? Nothing says ''I Love You" like a giant, purple shirt emblazoned with a lyric from the ultimate noodly Dead track, ''Dark Star."
