Flying cars in pop culture

''Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002) -- Harry and his chum Ron travel in style, in a car endowed with magical powers of flight.

''The Man With the Golden Gun" (1974) -- This entry in the James Bond series features a villain played by (who else?) Christopher Lee who could get his AMC Matador airborne with the flick of a switch.

''The Jetsons" (1962-88) -- George Jetson and family made the future seem like a blast, with those nifty bubble-topped cars zipping through the skies.

''Blade Runner" (1982) -- Even in Ridley Scott's dystopia, the police at least have the benefit of flying patrol cars known as ''spinners."

''The Fifth Element" (1997) -- Bruce Willis drives a flying taxi as he tries to save mankind.

''The Absent-Minded Professor" (1961) -- The mysterious sub-stance known as Flubber gets a Model T up, up, and away.

''Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968) -- The film was apparently inspired by a real car, built in the 1920s by Count Zborowski, that could reach speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
