Oscar-nominated filmmaker Dana Adam Shapiro seems to be thankful just to be part of the hoopla. Shapiro, a Newton native who made the documentary ''Murderball" along with Henry Alex Rubin , faces some pretty stiff competition from the waddling heroes of ''March of the Penguins."
