Perry playing every gig like it's the last

Aerosmith out to pasture? You never know, says Joe Perry. Talking to a Florida newspaper over the weekend, Aerosmith's ax man said the bad luck that's befallen the band recently has made him question whether this train can, in fact, keep a-rollin'. Not only has screaming Steven Tyler had throat surgery, but Tom Hamilton's being treated for throat cancer, and Perry himself just suffered a nasty head injury. "I was so [ticked] off -- really, really [ticked] off," Perry said of the Nov. 4 mishap at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas. Barely three songs into the band's 90-minute set , Perry was hit by a camera boom, and suffered a concussion and severe bruising. As a result, the guitarist says he's begun treating each show as if it could be his last. "That feeling of wondering when you're gonna play again is what does it," said Perry, 56. "I gotta think there's a sense of immediacy that all this stuff brings. When I play these cities I can't help but think: Who knows, this might be it."

New Miss Mass has some stylish ties

Lynn lovely Despina Delios, 22, was named Miss Massachusetts 2007 Sunday, picked from a gang of 58 gorgeous girls. We're told that the delightful Delios was styled by Maria Lekkakos, whose brother, Peter, the new Miss Mass happens to be dating. (Lekkakos, by the way, owner of Alexander's Spa and Salon in Wenham, styled the chichi wedding last spring of former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat and rowdy rocker Scott Stapp.) Delios will compete for the Miss USA title next spring.

Seen around town

Kal Penn, star of "Van Wilder " and now "Van Wilder Deux : The Rise of Taj, " was in town to promote the sequel yesterday, and he brought along a few friends. Penn was joined by Jonny Dubowsky , frontman of the band Jonny Lives!, which performs some of the music in the movie, and rocker Art Alexakis, whose band Everclear will headline the "Van Wilder" concert tour next month. . . . Word is Henry Kissinger was at Veronique in Brookline the other night. Seems the former secretary of state spoke at a party for Dr. Roman DeSanctis, the renowned MGH cardiologist who treated the late Red Auerbach and operated on Kissinger.

Gennaro gets the gig at Trinity Rep

Michael Gennaro will be the new executive director of Providence's Trinity Repertory Company. And it's a repeat engagement for Gennaro as he and Trinity's artistic director Curt Columbus worked together at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. Gennaro, who starts in February, comes to Trinity from the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, where he was president and CEO. At Trinity, he replaces Edgar Dobie, who resigned in September to produce the Broadway-bound musical, "The Pirate Queen." "Michael Gennaro is the sine qua non in American theater as an executive director," Columbus says.

Good work gets good PR on 'SVU'
Dr. Ed Tronick of Boston's Children's Hospital and his research on how young children cope with reading emotions will bask in a little TV glow tonight. Crews from NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," shot footage of Tronick's labs and his research that will be featured in a court room scene of the popular drama that stars Chris Meloni, Connie Nielsen, and Mariska Hargitay.

"For Your Consideration" stars Norwell native Jennifer Coolidge and Catherine O'Hara, who both performed in the "Comic Relief" benefit, chatted after the show with Boston's James Costa, who was a talent coordinator for the show held in Vegas over the weekend.

Boston's own Joey McIntyre, a veteran of the first season of "Dancing With the Stars," and his wife, Barrett Williams, were among the black-tie attired gathered in Hollywood over the weekend for "Day & Night," an event featuring performances from world- class dancers. Also on hand was Providence- bred singer Blu Cantrell and fellow former "Dancing With the Stars" competitors Vivica A. Fox and Harry Hamlin and his wife, Lisa Rinna. . . . As they are every year, Pats owner Bob Kraft and players Larry Izzo, Kevin Faulk, Daniel Graham, Ben Watson, Ty Warren, and others were at the Roxbury headquarters of Goodwill yesterday distributing 200 baskets filled with all the Turkey Day trimmings to local families.
