Brown, 26, said the sentence has been good for her "because probation forces you into structure. It is making me grow up." Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, had a good word for Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson. The rap princess had several hostile exchanges with Jackson before the judge sentenced her . Brown is to return to court March 15.

The sensational HarperCollins imprint of Judith Regan, the publisher who nearly brought us O.J. Simpson's imaginary "confession" to murder, has been temporarily renamed "HC" and in the fall will be dispersed throughout the company. "We feel our authors will be best served by being integrated into HarperCollins," Michael Morrison, president and group publisher of Harper/Morrow, said yesterday in a statement. Regan's lucrative, scandalous reign ended when she was fired in December amid allegations that she made anti-Semitic remarks to a HarperCollins lawyer.

The Internet serial "Lonelygirl15" will get star treatment tomorrow when "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee plays a guest role. McPhee was an early fan of the show, which unravels the mystery of a 16-year-old girl named Bree in short video segments posted on YouTube, Revver, and an official website. McPhee's management contacted the creators of the Web series about a guest spot.

Gus Van Sant, director of "Good Will Hunting," pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of drunken driving and reckless driving. He was ordered to a Feb. 9 alcohol diversion hearing in Portland, Ore. Van Sant, 54, was arrested Dec. 21 near the city center. Police said he registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, more than double Oregon's limit .

Britney Spears no longer wants him as her husband, and audiences have been cool to his attempt at a rap music career, but Kevin Federline has Nationwide's support . Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., known for its "On Your Side" slogan, plans to run a national ad during the Super Bowl, and K-Fed has been tapped to star, the Ohio-based company announced yesterday. The 30-second spot, to air during the third quarter of the Feb. 4 game, will be the latest installment in Nationwide's "Life Comes at You Fast" ad campaign.

Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow has joined the cast of "Iron Man," the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Entertainment. Jon Favreau is directing the movie. Paltrow joins Robert Downey Jr. -- who plays armor-clad superhero Iron Man and his alter ego, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark -- and Terrence Howard, who will play Stark's best friend. Paltrow will play Stark's personal assistant Virginia "Pepper" Potts .

Actress Lindsay Lohan has entered a residential treatment center, her publicist said yesterday. "I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health," the 20-year-old star of "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" said in a statement, reported by Reuters. Lohan's spokeswoman declined to say what Lohan was being treated for or where the center was located. Us Weekly magazine reported on its website that Lohan had been admitted to the exclusive Wonderland Center in West Hollywood . According to its website, the Wonderland Center is a "residential treatment and detoxification facility providing services for alcohol, substance abuse, and relapse-prevention programs."
