Jazz picks

Tonight: The Andy McWain trio and the improvising wind quartet Boxcars Boxcars Boxcars open the new season of adventurous Friday night jazz offerings at Brookline T'ai Chi. Tonight and tomorrow night: Two jazz masters, bassist Charlie Haden and pianist Paul Bley, perform as a duo at the Regattabar. Acclaimed singer Karrin Allyson is at Scullers. Tomorrow night: Dazzling pianist Kenny Werner brings his trio to the Marblehead Summer Jazz series at the Unitarian-Universalist Church. Sunday: Berklee College of Music and ParkARTS present their annual Jazz at the Fort concert, featuring singer Gabrielle Goodman and opener the Curtis Warren Quintet, at Highland Park on Fort Avenue, Roxbury. Tuesday: Trumpeter/ composer Greg Hopkins brings his quintet, including saxophonist Bill Pierce, guitarist Mick Goodrick, and drummer Gary Chaffee, to Ryles. The Makanda Project, the superb group that keeps alive the music of the late Boston-born Makanda Ken McIntyre, appears at the Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park Summer Performance series at Franklin Park.
