Is Garner expecting again?

(ginsburg-spaly/x17online.com)

Her recent fashion choice of billowy tunics has ignited chatter in the blogosphere that Jennifer Garner (above) might be expecting baby number two with hubby Ben Affleck. Her peeps had nothing to say, but Garner has been spotted on the West Coast with the couple's daughter, Violet, and sporting maternity-style tops. Garner will be on the big screen next month in the $70 million political thriller "The Kingdom" with Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Kingston resident Chris Cooper.

Cianci to rejoin radio station

Just about a month after Buddy Cianci was released from federal prison, where he served more than four years for corruption, the former Providence mayor announced he will return to the airwaves. Yesterday Cianci called in to WPRO-AM host Ron St. Pierre's show and announced he is rejoining the station's lineup on Sept. 20. (Cianci had a show on the station in 2002 and was on another Providence chat frequency in the 1980s.) "What I'd like to do is join in the public conversation, join in the public discourse about issues that face the city and state," the Associated Press quoted the long-serving politico as saying. Cianci (left, at a recent WaterFire event in Providence with his granddaughter Olivia) spent a short time at a Boston halfway house after his release from prison before returning to Providence.

Having a ball at Faneuil Hall

Pro volleyballers Mark Williams, Misty May-Treanor, Casey Jennings, and Kerri Walsh were at Faneuil Hall Marketplace yesterday to give average folks a shot at playing against them. The crew and other pros are in Quincy's Marina Bay this weekend with the AVP Crocs Tour Bob's Stores Boston Open.

A mystery revisited
Not one to gossip, Douglas Trumbull has never talked about directing "Brainstorm," the movie Natalie Wood was making when she mysteriously drowned in 1981. But now Trumbull, who lives in the Berkshires, is spilling the beans. As upsetting as Wood's death was, the aftermath was much worse, said the director, who'll screen the sci-fi flick at the New Marlborough Village Association tomorrow. He and the cast, which included Christopher Walken, Louise Fletcher, and Cliff Robertson, were immediately fired by MGM. And Trumbull, who'd been nominated for three special-effects Oscars, felt like his own life might even be in jeopardy. "I saw the seamy side of Hollywood," he told us this week. "There's no way to know what kind of foul play was at work. It was extremely unpleasant." Trumbull never directed another movie, but he's doing just fine. In 1991, he designed Back to the Future: The Ride.

He's not in Oprah's club
A Provincetown official was elated to tell readers of his website that Oprah Winfrey had selected his self-published novel, "Crossed Paths," for her extremely popular book club. Trouble is, it wasn't true. Bill Schneider, the town's tourism director, had even created and posted a five-page transcript of an interview that Winfrey supposedly conducted with him. Yesterday he fessed up to the Cape Cod Times. "I acknowledge an error in judgment, in my attempt to memorialize [in my book] someone very special who didn't get a chance to finish his life," Schneider was quoted as saying. Schneider, whose claims were originally questioned by the Weekly Dig's Thomas Kilduff, has removed all the fabrications from his website. "He is misrepresenting himself," a spokeswoman from Oprah's production company told the Hyannis-based newspaper. "And he has no relationship with Oprah's Book Club."

Bon Jovi at Fenway

Jon Bon Jovi's visit to Fenway Park for Wednesday afternoon's game has fueled speculation that the rocker and his eponymous band will be the next to play the old ball yard. A regular at Gillette Stadium because of his friendship with Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Bon Jovi was spotted chatting with Sox brass during his time at Fenway. Although the team was mum on the subject yesterday, the rock star has been rumored to be on the Sox' short list.

Dushku pitches in
Eliza Dushku's appearance at Fenway Park today for the Jimmy Fund radio telethon has a lot of meaning for her. "My aunt Patricia died of cancer on Aug. 17, 1990," said the Watertown-bred actress. "I couldn't believe it when I opened the e-mail and saw what date they wanted me to come." As part of the annual fund-raiser for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Dushku will be joined at Fenway by actors Jim Belushi and Tim Daly, whose wife, Amy, hails from Providence. Dushku, who's dating Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny, says we don't have to question her loyalty. "If it ever comes down to it, I'll wear a Dodgers jersey with my Red Sox cap," she told us yesterday. "My father and brothers would kill me for being a traitor."
