Brady's ready to talk . . . football

Talking to the media for the first time since the birth of his son, Tom Brady was typically tight-lipped yesterday. No. 12 was lobbed a softball about becoming a dad, but declined to dish and asked that the beat reporters respect his privacy. "I'd like to just say that there are a lot of those questions and I'm sure you want answers, but I'm really here to talk about football and that's why I'm here," said Brady, whose 12-day-old tyke John is in LA with mom, actress Bridget Moynahan. "I have a lot of great thoughts on it, but I'd really prefer to share those with my family and my loved ones. It's a wonderful thing as I'm sure all the parents out there know already. I'm ready to talk football."

Family ties trump Redstone feud
Much has been made of their family feud, but Sumner and Shari Redstone were all smiles at the InterContinental Boston over the weekend. The billionaire Viacom CEO and his daughter, president of the Dedham-based National Amusements, hosted a lavish wedding for Kimberlee Korff, Sumner's granddaughter and Shari's daughter. The ceremony took place Sunday amid the hotel's garden overlooking the harbor, and was followed by an elaborate reception. (The blasts of heart-shape fireworks were a nice touch.) Guests included Pats owners Bob and Myra Kraft, Australian media mogul James Packer, and former Bank of America bigwig Chad Gifford.

Wedding bells for Lockhart
Word is Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart is engaged to girlfriend Emiley Zalesky, and the couple could be tying the knot as soon as next month. Lockhart, who previously was married to BSO violinist Lucia Lin, with whom he has a young son, has been dating Zalesky, an attorney at Ropes & Gray, for more than a year. The couple bought a place in Brookline last spring, shelling out $915,000 for the 5-bedroom, 3 1/2-bath home. Through a spokesman, Lockhart said yesterday he doesn't comment on his personal life.

A look at Arnold
Describing his new documentary about Arnold Schwarzenegger, director Dan Cox says it's "somewhat caustic . . . negative, but funny." The movie, which tracks the former muscleman during his run for governor in '03, will be screened at Brandeis Thursday as part of professor Alice Kelikian's Film Studies Program. Arnold didn't exactly cooperate with Cox, who trailed the "Kindergarten Cop" as he campaigned across California. "Arnold is really skeptical of the media. He likes to manipulate it so he looks good," says Cox, a Brandeis grad. "He wants to be portrayed as he is in the movies - heroic." We also learn that the Governator's wife, Maria Shriver, was furious with her husband after several women stepped forward to say they'd been groped by the big guy. Kelikian will have more special guests in the coming weeks, including directors Werner Herzog and Lodge Kerrigan, and writer James Carroll.

Prof with a Purpose
Congrats to Dr. Donald Berwick, the Harvard prof who heads the Institute for Healthcare Improvement in Cambridge. Berwick has won the $100,000 Purpose Prize, given to "social innovators" over the age of 60. Berwick was recognized for his 100,000 Lives Campaign, an effort to reduce unnecessary deaths in hospitals. "I'm dumbfounded and very grateful," Berwick told us yesterday. "It also raises the stakes. I want to continue to make a contribution."

Sox eating it up
Big Papi
and Jonathan Papelbon attracted a little attention when they showed up at Sonsie Sunday in matching yellow Lamborghinis. The fan favorites parked their sweet rides and then dined together. (With some help from his daughter, Papi made quick work of the chocolate bread pudding.) Also kicking back at Patrick Lyons's Newbury Street eatery were Sox shortstop Julio Lugo, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow, soccer stud Taylor Twellman, and Pats linebacker Junior Seau.

Faces in the crowd
There were a few familiar faces in the gallery at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton. Among the bigshots watching Tiger Woods were Tom Brady, Dunkin' Brands CEO Jon Luther, Stop & Shop CEO José Alvarez, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, Fenway Sports Group prez Mike Dee, "Pink Panther 2" producer Ira Shuman, Olympic hockey hero Jim Craig, and legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.

Jim A. drops in on P. Diddy
Leave it to Jim Apteker to score an invite to P. Diddy's "White Party." Boston's host-with-the-most was a guest Saturday at the 'do at Diddy's Hamptons mansion. "It was a great party," said Apteker, owner of Longwood Events. "It's how the other half lives, I guess." Celebrity guests wearing all white - the dress code was strictly enforced - included Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Donna Karan, Ashley Olsen, Star Jones, Tommy Lee, and Lil' Kim.

Promoting, baby, promoting
Casey Affleck
's certainly doing his part to puff "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford." Ben's kid brother worked the velvet rope at the Venice Film Festival Sunday and then promptly jetted off to do more promotion for the movie at the American Film Festival in Deauville, France. Affleck's wife, Summer Phoenix, was on his arm in Venice, and it's clear the couple is expecting their second child.
