He opened the Museum of Jurassic Technology in a Los Angeles storefront in 1988. It's a curious place, featuring a teensy sculpture of Disney's Goofy, an ant with a parasitic spike sprouting from its head, artifacts telling the tale of a failed bridge builder, and a human horn. Or so they say. It has become a mecca for people craving mysteries and miracles and questioning the very nature of museums. Tomorrow Wilson, a 2001 MacArthur "genius grant" winner, speaks about "The Wonder of It All" at the Rhode Island School of Design. His tentative subject is the astounding art of miniscule sculptures and mosaics purportedly crafted from strands of hair, dust motes, and butterfly wings. "We're very drawn to and love work," Wilson says, "that hovers right at the edge of what's believable." 7 p.m. Free.
