A couple is heartened by signs of community
The Boston Globe
Shaun Morgan, who grew up in Mattapan and was photographed here playing with son Shaun Jacob, said he did not want his children to grow up cautious or bitter because of racial issues. Although he remembers the racial taunts and playground fights of his first years as a Metco student in Melrose, he said, 'I don't want him to say, 'Oh, that person will hate me because of my color.' When and if they ever do have an incident, we will sit down and cross that bridge.'
