Day Glow
It's really OK to wear sequins and other shiny stuff when the sun's out.
WHAT'S IN Glisten up. That's the message this season from designers, who leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of daytime glitz and glamour. That's right, daytime. Baubles, bangles, and bright shiny beads sparkle on cotton-print skirts, knit tees, and straw handbags. Mirrors and sequins reflect the bohemian trend on gauzy peasant tops, skirts, and fabric ballet flats. Even knit ponchos catch a few rays with metallic yarns in gold or silver. Want to start small? A rhinestone-studded belt sparks interest on jeans.
WHO'S WEARING IT The glitterati will take a shine to the intricately beaded sandals, embellished skirts, and designer bags. All that handwork doesn't come cheap. But the fund-impaired can take heart. Sequin-embroidered flats and scarves are inexpensive gems, as are rhinestone-crusted flip-flops.
