Low Fidelity

Fidelity Investments turns 60 this year. But its customers may not be in a celebrating mood.

CORRECTION: Because of a reporting error, the story "Low Fidelity" in the February 19 Globe Magazine said traders and portfolio managers had reportedly left Fidelity Investments after a federal investigation for allegedly accepting gifts from brokers with whom they did business. Only traders left the company. Also, the story said that the level of Fidelity's employees in Boston out of the entire company's workforce has dropped since 1990 from 64 to 23 percent, but it should have also said that the actual number of Fidelity employees in Boston has risen from 4,337 to 8,529.
