When Alyson Harvey says her wardrobe is colorful, she’s not using the traditional sense of the word. Rather than featuring hard-to-miss bright tones, the 28-year-old’s outfits are an inventive combination of sophisticated hues. The beauty is in the mix, a talent that’s second nature to Harvey, who works at the Sherwin-Williams Color Studio in the Boston Design Center as a consultant on residential paint palettes. “I’m exposed to so many colors on a daily basis that it’s made me more open and experimental,” says the South Boston resident. “Any color will work with another if you tweak it properly.” Harvey describes her professional style as “almost preppy,” focusing on clean-lined, fitted silhouettes that suit her slight frame perfectly, with “an edge of trendiness” coming from her finely tuned sense of color. “I don’t perceive what I wear as being ‘in,’ ” says Harvey – but color her chic nonetheless.
