Ring out the old with french fries, cheese, and gravy.

Sure, in just a few hours you’re starting a diet. But until then there’s poutine, a French-Canadian treat that is best described as extreme junk food – or just plain sublime. Hand-cut french fries are, well, fried, then topped with chewy cheddar curds and baked, then topped again in chicken gravy and a smattering of scallions ($9 at Harvest). The only problem with a pre-diet treat this good? You already have a reason to cheat.
