The Kendalls say they've created their own ecosystem with the ponds -- one that includes 10 koi, dozens of frogs, and "Mr. Snake," a garter snake who's taken up residence nearby. A 13-foot sculpture by Somerville artist David Tonnesen, which can be viewed from the screened porch, is a stainless steel cluster of reeds, leaves, and petals that complements the natural setting.
