Although he had been one of the best hitters in the game for several years, an injury limited Ordonez to just 52 games in 2004 -- just as he was about to hit the free agent market. Boras nevertheless nabbed top dollar for the sweet-swinging outfielder, and last year Ordonez made the All-Star team while helping the Tigers reach the World Series.
