The day of the Project Prom photo shoot and fashion show was so much fun! I actually had a chance to attend my first real photo shoot during the day to see the girls have their pictures taken for the magazine. Everyone was absolutely gorgeous. I am so proud of the way the dresses came out; they fit the girls beautifully.
The show that night at the mall was also a blast. My family came from Connecticut, as well as my fashion design professors, friends, and some fellow students from school. I had lots of support, and so did Celismarie, whose family, friends, and classmates showed up as well. Celismarie worked the runway in that dress, and it fit her style and personality so well. I was very proud.
I really enjoyed participating in this event because I got to know Celi -- we've become pretty good friends, and we're still keeping in touch even though the dress is complete. I can't wait to see the dresses in the window of Macy's. It's an honor and really more than I could ever ask for.

The past two weeks since the Globe article came out have been so crazy. My sisters actually looked up the article on the website the Saturday night before it came out, and everyone who was in the house, including two of my good friends, went running and screaming down the stairs to see it. I have to admit that I felt embarrassed standing there while my family watched my interview video. They were all excited for me, though, and since then they've been telling everybody. My school's website posted the news on the homepage, so that when I got to school everyone I knew and even people I didn't were congratulating me. The reaction has been so positive, especially in one of my classes where my teacher had the class watch my interview on a big screen. And I thought being in the same room with my family as they watched it was embarrassing!
After the first couple days, it got quiet and I began to really anticipate who the high school student would be who won the dress. A few girls even looked me up on Facebook to inform me that they were entering. Of course I wished them luck and thanked them for their kind words about my dress. People were recognizing me! I felt crazy-famous.
This week, I started to get anxious. I knew the shopping trip to Fabric Place was fast approaching, and I'd be going home for spring break soon, and I still didn't know who I was matched up with. Then finally I found out on Wednesday that Celismarie had won my dress. I had to call her immediately and introduce myself. She's a sweetheart, and her essay proved that she was really into fashion and my style of clothing. We've been text-messaging and e-mailing all day yesterday and today to get to know each other better before we meet on Sunday. So right now, I'm flying by the seat of my pants! I'll be taking her measurements about an hour before the shopping trip, so that makes me a bit nervous, but not too worried. Maybe anxious, actually . . . I'm stoked!
I want to start creating my "cupcake" dress ASAP because time is constantly on my mind. I can just picture Gwen Stefani in her video sewing like a mad woman! For now, however, I'm going to focus on my senior collection to keep me busy. I guess you could say I have my hands full.![]()
