Bopha Nina Toun’s diary

I had fun at the fashion show on April 18 and was excited to see Dana wearing her prom dress. Her mother showed me clips of the photo shoot for the May 13 issue of the Globe Magazine, Dana told me she had fun doing the shoot, and I can't wait to see how the photos will turn out. All the other designers’ dresses came out nicely. I wish everyone the best of luck. But I hope I win the readers’ choice voting (and the $500 from Fabric Place) because I really need a new sewing machine. The one I have is old and shakes every time I use it. It's like a car that soon I will have to trade in for a new one. At least it made it to the end of the prom dress-making.

Today was my first fitting with Dana Jamieson. She loves the dress and is very excited to see the end result. She is very glad that her mother told her about Project Prom. Rose, Dana’s mother, was also there. They took a few photos of the dress, the work in progress. Tomorrow I will continue to sew what needs to be taken in. Oh, yeah -- I have to go back to the fabric store because I didn't buy enough lining material.

So far I finished the top of my dress without any other detail work, and I am planning to meet up with Dana Jamieson and her mother, Rose, on Wednesday for my first fitting. I hope all goes well with the fitting. The dress is starting to look like what I had envisioned. The fabric is so pretty and lustrous. Dana is tan like me, so I know for sure she can pull the color off.

I just started to drape my pattern pieces on the mannequin, and so far it's going pretty smoothly. I only had a few hours to work on the dress because my school closes at 4:30, which doesn't leave me much time. I am trying not to stress about it too much, but I cannot help it knowing that there are only three weeks left to get it done. I am planning to cut the fabric tomorrow.
