Leo O'Neill, 64; led Standard & Poor's

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Leo O'Neill, who recently retired as president of Standard & Poor's, died Tuesday at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City due to complications from cancer.

Mr. O'Neill, 64, worked for 36 years for the financial data, research, and credit rating services company.

Harold McGraw III, chairman of parent company McGraw-Hill, said Mr. O'Neill was one of the architects of the global growth and success of Standard & Poor's.

Mr. O'Neill was treasurer of Scenic Hudson Inc. and a board member of the Battery Park Conservancy and the Downtown Alliance in Manhattan.
