Vera (Oravec) Laska was 15 in 1938 when she joined the Czechoslovakian underground after the outbreak of World War II and helped hundreds of political refugees and Jews flee Nazi persecution. After eluding the Nazis many times, she was incarcerated in three prison camps. (Full article: 1372 words)
