Eva Ginsburg Braid, a law firm marketing and management consultant, died Jan. 31 after a yearlong battle with endometrial cancer. She was 43.

Born in Chicago, Mrs. Braid lived in New York City and Quebec before moving to Boston to attend college. Fluent in French, she studied linguistics at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, where she graduated in 1985.

She began her career at the former strategy firm Gray, Hudson & Howard in the Back Bay.

In 1990, Mrs. Braid established Survey Research Design, before earning a master's degree from the Tufts Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy in 1993.

After she graduated, Mrs. Braid worked at companies in the Boston area such as the law firm of Ropes & Gray and at Coburn Consulting, which provides planning and management services to law firms.

Most recently, she worked at the Philadelphia-based law firm Duane Morris in Sausalito, Calif., where she was named West Coast regional business development manager in 2005.

Diana Maloney of Wayland, said her daughter's understanding of people helped her to be successful.

"She was very astute about understanding people psychologically," Maloney said. "She could walk into a room and quickly see how to improve situations."

Mrs. Braid enjoyed tennis, playing the piano, sailing, and traveling.

"She packed more in her 42 good years that most people put in 80 years," her mother said.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Braid leaves her husband, Robert of Sausalito; her father, Michael Ginsburg of San Diego; a brother, Alec Ginsburg of Las Vegas; and a stepdaughter, Jenny, and a stepson John, both of Milford.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the First Church of Christ in Marblehead. Burial will be private.
