John Eargle, 76, audio engineer
LOS ANGELES -- John Eargle, an award-winning audio engineer, was found dead May 9 at his home in the Hollywood Hills. He was 76.
Considered an expert in the field of audio engineering and a leader in the development of multichannel surround sound, Mr. Eargle engineered or produced the recordings of more than 275 compact discs.
Among the artists he recorded were Joe Williams, Ruth Brown, Etta James, the London Symphony, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Eargle won a Grammy Award in 2001.
He leaves a brother and a sister. ![]()
