Mass. quality and information technology initiatives win federal recognition

Posted by Elizabeth Cooney March 28, 2008 10:12 AM

Two Massachusetts groups working on quality and electronic health records have won recognition from the federal government for their efforts.

The Massachusetts Health Quality Partners and the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative were designated as a Chartered Value Exchange, which will give them access this summer to information from Medicare about the quality of care physicians give to patients. Michael Leavitt, secretary of US Department of Health and Human Services, announced the distinction in Boston yesterday. About 100 groups around the country have received Charter Value Exchange status.
