Dr. Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa (left), a neurosurgeon and brain-tumor researcher at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, was an illegal immigrant working in the vegetable fields of California before taking night classes at a community college that eventually led him to Berkeley and Harvard Medical School.
In today's New York Times, an interviewer asks him if Harvard was tough.
"Not really," he answers. "Compared to working in the fields, its was easy."
