Today's Globe: HIV testing

"The most disheartening fact about the revised CDC data on annual new [HIV] infections is not their precise number, but that they are not declining," a Globe editorial says. "More routine testing could bring them down by alerting those who test positive that they are infectious. The federal government needs to be part of this effort."

  1. Alerting HIV positive individuals (and their partners) that they are infectious is one thing. Convincing them (and their partners) to use condoms or other forms of protection is another.
