Today's Globe: crib death, Noreen Beck

Federal consumer safety specialists are investigating the death of a Massachusetts toddler who became entangled in a mesh covering placed on top of his crib while on a family visit to a Maine island.

Noreen C. (Flynn) Beck,
who battled breast cancer for more than 10 years and co-organized a fund-raising walk, died from the disease on Dec. 15 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a week before her 50th birthday.
