Children receiving federal payments for mental disabilities

New England has the nation's highest concentration of children receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for behavioral, learning or mental disorders. Highlight the data that you want from the left column, and then move your cursor over the state to find information about children there receiving SSI benefits. You can get the total number of children on SSI, including the percentage who became eligible due to mental disabilities, and the top five diagnostic categories*. Only low-income children qualify for these benefits. This list excludes those eligible based on severe intellectual disability or low I.Q.
