Pedestrian Killed on I-95 in Wakefield

A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-95 in Wakefield Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a box truck and a man with serious injuries near the Route 129 ramp, according to a State Police statement.

Upon arrival on scene, troopers discovered that a 2004 GMC Savcut (Box type truck) traveling southbound operated by a 51-year-old male from Tewksbury, struck a pedestrian near the on-ramp from Route 129. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old male from Gloucester, who is not being identified at this time, was transported to Lahey Clinic. Upon arrival at Lahey Clinic the man was determined to be deceased, as a result of injuries sustained from the incident. Names will be released after next-of-kin notifications have been made. The investigation into why the victim was in the roadway is ongoing.
