The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has approved a 5% MBTA fare hike.

Beginning in July, fares will increase by 10 cents for individual bus and subway rides (to $1.60 and $2.10, respectively), $5 for monthly bus-and-subway combined passes (to $75), $2 for monthly bus-only passes (to $50), and anywhere from $9 to $17 for monthly commuter rail passes.

Additional information about the fare hikes, which were proposed in March, is available here.
