Jesse White is officially a college graduate. At 99 years old, the Belfast, Maine woman is ready for a career, according to ABC News.
White said she told a friend about the fee that kept her from graduating and her friend contacted the college president. After being told about White's problem, Stehle paid her balance and hosted White and her friends at a personal graduation ceremony, where she was finally awarded her degree in stenography and bookkeeping.
White was set to graduate in 1939 but the debt kept her from receiving the degree. Five dollars in 1939 is equivalent to $83.23 today, according an inflation calculator at DollarTimes.
