Newton Police Learn Identity of Man Approaching Children with Turtle

The Newton Police Department announced today that they have learned the identity of a man who was approaching children with a turtle this week and making “bizarre comments.’’

According to Newton Patch, police described the man as 5 feet, 10 inches, with gray hair, blue jeans, and a gray sweatshirt. And a turtle, of course.

"He stated he worked at a local elementary school and showed the children a turtle," police said in a statement. "He then asked them where he could put the turtle. After a short walk the children left."

Earlier this week, Patch reported that police checked with the school and found that the man did not work there.

The matter is still being investigated.

We will update the story when we have more information.
