A 39-year-old Bourne man was seriously injured Sunday morning after he was allegedly repeatedly stabbed by a man armed with a samurai sword.

Officers responded to the scene at 355 Shore Rd. around 1:35 a.m., where the victim told officers he had been attacked and that his assailant was still on the property.

Authorities have not yet named the 28-year-old man arrested in the attack and took a three-foot-long samurai sword into custody, Cape Cod Today reports.

The victim was briefly transported to State Police barracks and later taken via helicopter to a Rhode Island hospital.

Detectives continue to investigate.
