Roslindale-West Roxbury Residents Keep Long-Standing Healthy Competition Going

Ask lifelong residents of Roslindale about who they’ll find in West Roxbury and the answer will probably be “yuppies.’’ As West Roxbury natives to describe Roslindale residents, and they’ll likely call them, “Rozzie rats.’’

But these are more than just labels — they symbolize a deep-rooted and longstanding — albeit friendly –rivalry between the two communities. And it’s one that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, the Boston Globe reports.

Like many rivalries, what feels real in youth disintegrates in adulthood.
