A fifth grade teacher at East Somerville Community School pleaded not guilty to charges that she had sexual contact with a 13-year-old today.
Alexandra Romanos, 41, was charged with two counts of aggravated rape of a child and three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14. In what Metro described as a “barely audible voice,’’ Romanos pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. She remains free on bail, ordered to wear a GPS monitoring device and have no contact with any children under 16 except her own.
Romanos, who taught at the school for seven years, is on administrative leave. According to Fox25, the alleged relationship began in March, and acts occurred on and off school property.
In a statement released when she was arrested last month, Somerville Public Schools said “we are repulsed and angry that someone who made an oath to uphold the highest moral standards … has allegedly violated that trust.’’
